Farid Abu Shakra, artist, art researcher, curator, and poet
About three years ago Farid decided to come back and work in his home town, Umm el-Fahem, after having maintained a studio in central Israel for years. In Farid’s new house, the studio is located on the bottom floor—a large, well-lit, and spacious place that gazes onto the townscape and the hills. In the middle of the studio stands a large table, an expression of his wish to create a place for human encounter and profound cultural and artistic discourse as part of his place of work and artistic endeavor. The move from “there” (Herzliya) to “here” (Umm el-Fahem), his cradle, signifies not only a change of geography but also breezes of change in Umm el-Fahem as a place that has become receptive to art. You are invited to celebrate with Farid the dedication of the new studio and the move from “there” to “here.”
